Dear, Oh Dear.
From each according to his inabilities, to each according to his greed.*
The Marxist maxim: “From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs” suggests that workers should receive remuneration predicated upon the amount that they contribute to the social product. It calls for them to receive a salary, wages, and benefits according to the quantity, quality, and value of the labor that they contribute. Under that principle, workers with high productivity and skills receive higher wages than unskilled workers.
Marxists use the maxim to explain a societal transition to socialism that precedes the final step to communism. Trotsky later claimed that the precept created incentives to work harder and longer with more productively. He predicted that capitalism would disappear with the ensuing abundance of quality goods.

As a basic premise of trade unionism within a global, capitalist society, the Marxist maxim has a modicum of truth when conducted with integrity. However, National Union of Journalists officers and officials (who espouse an extreme left version of socialism akin to communism) have formed NUJ-Left, a splinter group that uses NUJ resources without a consensus that includes members who may hold very different political opinions.
Democracy calls for a political system in which supreme power lies in a body of members who can elect officials and officers to represent them, essential in a global society. Instead, Jeremy Dear, NUJ General Secretary (a sociopath elected unopposed) has instituted totalitarian rule and acts as commissar while his NUJ-Left sympathizers appoint sycophants to usurp power and assuage a common greed. Pay Raise for Jeremy Dear
Dear, who promotes Marxist ideologies, does not personally suffer the havoc that he wreaks upon members. During NUJ fiscal year 2009: a time of recession and unemployment with reduced NUJ membership; a £4 million asset loss; and, a decision to increase member dues; Dear received a 6% salary/benefits increase plus travel expenses and subsistence. [NUJ Annual Returns]
2008 £73,990.00/pa
2009 £78,349.00/pa
A raise of £4,359.00 (5.56%)
During the same period: Dear denied members service for which they paid dues; cancelled an international press card arbitrarily; refused access to documents that prove misappropriation of funds; prevented access to the member section of NUJ web site; denied legal representation; harassed elderly members; prohibited access to Southport ADM without cause; and, promoted a Marxist splinter group using NUJ resources.
Upon publication of a recent Contra Cabal statement about Dear’s salary increase, an NUJ member sent a letter to the editor (member’s name suppressed to prevent retaliation by NUJ-Left bullies). That member currently receives a small pension under a local government pension scheme index-linked to the Retail Price
The member asked:
How is it that Dear is able to get away with a pay increase at all for this year? It cannot be justified on grounds of cost of living increases or on the basis of what the NUJ has stated in its annual report. It most certainly cannot be justified on the basis of his performance.
The member received an annual pension payslip (P60) which showed the total pension paid for the current tax year and the reduced pension that the member will receive during the next tax year. The pension fund manager justified the reduction by claiming a negative measure of inflation (-1.4% for the year ending 30 Sep 09). Consequently, all pensioners in the scheme have had their pensions frozen or will find them reduced during the ensuing year. The pension fund managers' year for calculating any RPI-indexed increase/decrease of pensions coincides with the reporting year for NUJ's annual return.
Recently published annual returns show that Dear, in his role as the union's chief executive officer, has during the fiscal year 2009 presided over a decline in union membership from 28,704 to 28,337; a deficit of income over expenditure; and, reduction of the union’s general fund from a surplus of £1,021,738 to a deficit of (£2,855,922), a loss of (£3,877,660) (£136.84/per member). Impeachment
|
Are these grounds for impeachment of a general secretary elected unopposed?
Probably.
Executive anarchy and member apathy has resulted in an out-of-control, extreme-left cabal of executive officers with a total disregard for rules and law. That situation points to a real need to actively promote opposing candidates in elections and to insure that incumbents do not retire in place or run unopposed. If members do not meet their responsibility to participate in elections, then continuation of membership should depend upon rules that compel them to vote.
Current practices allow Dear and other subliterate people to occupy important positions then enforce their will by using a rogue shyster unlawfully to falsify protocols. They impose an extreme left dogma to the detriment of a majority of members which has caused NUJ to descend to a level of lawlessness and disorder. This allows executive officers and staffers to run completely out of control. History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.**

NUJ in-house solicitor Roy M Mincoff sanctions fraudulent interpretation of rules or law and arbitrarily denies due process by withholding documents to frustrate legal action. Widespread corruption among NUJ officials exists. National Executive Committee, branch officers, government ministers, and regulatory officials, implicitly grant them impunity.
Members must learn from the current situation and overcome their extant apathy to insure that multiple candidates run for all elected positions: essential to maintaining democracy and disposing of recalcitrant cabals. The apathy must end to improve democratic process which can only occur through a system of compulsory voting.
Nmesis.
Figures quoted in this article excerpted from Annual Returns for a Trade Union (Form AR21) dated 30 Sep 08 and 30 Sep 09, the latter filed with the Certification Office for Trade Unions and Employer’s Associations by NUJ on 24 Feb 10 under the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992. All financial comment applies to the fiscal year which ended 30 Sep 09.

Michelle Stanistreet Jeremy Dear's sycophants parrot his politically expedient theories to the detriment of the public good. Enter, Little Miss Muppet, a sleazy slag-off who repeatedly derogates a long-standing NUJ/IFJ member when he writes for the public good. Stanistreet has maliciously disseminated libel to officials and members of the international trade union movement. Slagging alone provides grounds for her impeachment. NUJ has descended to a level of lawlessness and disorder and uses a degenerate shyster unlawfully to enforce its will.

Trade Union and Labour Relations - David Cockburn David Cockburn, Certification Officer, Certification Office for Trade Unions and Employers' Associations delayed investigation and adjudication of a complaint for five months. By that, Cockburn effectively granted Jeremy Dear, General Secretary, National Union of Journalists impunity to extend a seven-year pattern of illegal activity for another year. Dear perverted the course of justice by misusing his position for personal gain and colluded in manipulation of elections to maintain an illegal status quo. Dear also covered up misappropriation of public funds by denying access to financial and other records. Cockburn effectively supported the illegal activities by delaying and denying justice. Their respective actions show an illegal pattern or practice which has adversely affected trade union member
